Staff Profile for Mary McCafferty - ABE Instructor
Mary McCafferty is the Program Coordinator/ Instructor for SERRC’s Southeast Regional Adult Basic Education Program. Mary provides direct instruction in math, reading, and writing and tutors students preparing for their GED exams. She oversees the daily operation of The Learning Connection (downtown Juneau location). Mary provides instructional support and direction to the adult basic education programs throughout southeast Alaska.
Mary started working with SERRC as an Adult Education instructor in 2000. She taught for six years before becoming program coordinator.
The Southeast Regional Adult Education services include, GED preparation and testing, ESL (English as a Second Language) classes, skill building in math, reading, and writing, and a Volunteer Tutor program.
Before moving to Juneau, Mary lived and worked in Ketchikan for many years. She was a Health Educator with Southeast Island School District and worked as Coordinator/Case Manager for the JOBS (Job Opportunities and Basic Skills) Program.
