Payroll/Human Resource Assistant

SERRC, Alaska’s Educational Resource Center seeks a full time Accounting/HR Assistant.

Duties include but are not limited to: review of monthly time sheets, assist with monthly payroll liability reconciliation and reporting, update and maintain position descriptions, maintain personnel files, assist with accounts payable processing.

Job Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent, completion of college level accounting coursework preferred; knowledge of office technology; experience with computer spreadsheet software, EXCEL preferred; demonstrated organizational skills; excellent oral and written communications skills; confirmed capabilities of self motivation and ability to work with confidential information under strict timelines.

Position Description: 

The Accounting/HR Assistant performs administrative/clerical functions for the SERRC finance office and its business services clients. This position exists to support SERRC’s Finance Department, SERRC’s Executive Team, SERRC’s staff and business services clients. This position reports to the Finance Director.

Position Qualifications: 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of College level accounting coursework, preferred
  • Experience with office technology: personal computer, fax machine, copier, calculator, etc.
  • Ability to develop and manipulate computer spreadsheets, EXCEL experience preferred
  • Ability to work with confidential information
  • Interest and ability to work as a member of a team
  • Confirmed capabilities of self motivation and ability to work under strict timelines
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and abilities
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Position Duties: 
  • Collect, organize and review monthly time sheets
  • Assist the finance staff with monthly  reconciliation of  payroll liabilities, including federal taxes, TRS, PERS, ESD
  • Assist the finance staff with quarterly payroll reports as required by State and Federal law
  • Assist with preparation of annual W-2 statements for SERRC and business services clients
  • Update and maintain SERRC position descriptions
  • Responsible for ensuring applicant references are checked as requested by hiring Program Managers
  • Maintain SERRC personnel files
  • Responsible for ensuring all certified staff certificates and licenses are current
  • Assist with preparation of accounts payable checks for SERRC and business services clients as needed
  • Assist with entering purchase orders in accounting system as needed
  • Maintain vendor files as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
