Thanks for enrolling in the All-Alaska Academy. With your help, students will benefit from their attendance at All-Alaska Academy sessions. Here are some suggestions for making the enrollment process proceed smoothly.
Begin the enrollment process by e-mailing, mailing or faxing an intent form to SERRC. Our fax number is 463-3811.
When your intent form is received, you will be sent a contract for services based on your intent form. The contract is sent to your district office, with a copy to The District Coordinator.
Identify the teacher/chaperone who will be attending. The District Coordinator and/or teachers should continue the enrollment and preparation process.
Download the "Countdown to Sessions" page. This will help you prepare for your session.
Access the student and teacher pages for your session to download session details, student checklists, advance assignments, and other information. If you cannot access the web information, let us know and we will send you hard copies.
Each student needs a mentor teacher at his/her school to help with advance assignments. Students should begin preparing one month before the session begins.
Make sure that parents get a copy or have access to the "Just for Parents" page so they will know what their student is attending.
Payment and registration forms are due no later than one month prior to the beginning of the session.
Participant additions can be made if session space is available. Participant cancellations 31 days or more before the session can be made with no penalty. Additions and cancellations will be recognized by an amended services contract.
Participant cancellations between 30 and 15 calendar days before the start of the session will receive 50% tuition reimbursement. An amended contract will be sent.
No reimbursement is granted for cancellations within 14 calendar days of the session.
For Alaska Close Up sessions, it is preferable that teacher/chaperones have a social studies background, but they can be from other backgrounds, teacher aides, school board members, or parents. They will be mentoring and working directly with your students and others.
Each student should fill out a Permission Packet. They can be mailed or faxed to SERRC to arrive before the beginning of the session, or teacher/chaperones can bring them. No student will be allowed to participate without the application and permission packet.
Credit for both teachers and students is offered through University of Alaska, Southeast (UAS). See particulars on the teacher's and student's page.
Students who misbehave during the session can be sent home at parent expense. The teacher/chaperone and SERRC instructors will confer on this matter.
