How much will this program cost me?
Your child may participate in Alaska Learning Labs at no cost to you. Program costs are covered by your school district using Title I federal dollars.
What will my child do in this program?
All students enrolled in Alaska Learning Labs will work on reading, writing, and math for 90 minutes a day after school for a total of 80 days. Most schools schedule the after school program for 3 days a week. Students work on computer lessons and off-line activities during lab time. Students also get help with homework as a part of Alaska Learning Labs.
How is my child’s progress reported to me?
Parents receive a monthly report with specific information about their child’s progress, attendance, and participation.
How can I support my child in this program?
Parents can help their child benefit from participation in Alaska Learning Labs in the following ways:
- Come to the Family Nights sponsored by Alaska Learning Labs.
- Encourage your child to bring home a HomeStyle activity once a week. HomeStyle activities are parent/child home activities that involve parents in the learning process.
- Do your best to make sure that your child attends as many after school tutorial sessions as possible.
How might my child participate in this program?
Ask your school administrator for a Supplemental Educational Services Parent choice form. Complete the form and turn it into your school administrator.
